Brittany Kwasnik Rocks At Her CD Launch "The Covers and the Sheets" @ Le Belmont

It was months in the waiting but for 19-year old West Island native Brittany Kwasnik, it seemed like an eternity, as this past Sunday, Brittany held a sold-out party at the Belmont to launch her eagerly anticipated second CD titled “The Covers and the Sheets.” It contains 7 tracks all written and co-produced by Brittany herself, along with all the artwork.

Many of you might recall, four years ago around this time her first YouTube video “Breathe” picked up 37,000 hits in its first week after being told at 8 years old that she would never sing because of a vocal chord dysfunction, but that is now history with a second CD producing catchy tunes, yet true to her self-described indie pop roots.

It was a full house that listened with enthusiasm to a 16-song 90 minute flawless set that would not have looked out of place opening up for any major Canadian act and the crowd knew that it was in for a treat with the opening track of the CD called “ September.” Current YouTube video “Across the Ocean” got all the attention it deserved by the band and they showed their confidence on “The Truth Will Come Out” with an invitation to join them on a chorus shout-out that would sound so sick and awesome at the Bell Centre.

But for many, a highlight came, when for the first time, Brittany sang her signature song Breathe that sounded just as fresh as the week it went viral in 2009. With lead guitarist Aaron Shepherd, drummer Luc Celny, bassist Steven Lee Rachel, and relative newcomer Marco Fortin on the keys and Brittany on electric acoustic, they’ve matured as cohesive unit just in this past year or so. Their full musical maturity on display, many are probably now thinking that only wonderful days lay ahead.
