Canada Officially Joins Bid To Host FIFA World Cup 2026

Soccer officials from Canada, The United States and Mexico will be holding an news conference today (Monday, April 10) to announce their bid for the 2026 World Cup. 

It's expected to be historic announcement since the men's cup hasn't been hosted in North America in over 23 years.

The Vice-President of FIFA, who just happens to be a Canadian, says he wants to help bring the cup back to North America. With that kind of backing, our chances of winning the bid are looking very good.

Plus, Mayor Coderre already expressed interest. He even said he's willing to invest money so that Montreal could host some of the games. 

“Montreal would be an amazing capital of the World Cup,” - Denis Coderre

The next World Cup will take place in Russia in 2018, and then in Qatar in 2022.
