Snail mail may seem archaic, but its still widely used today and changes are coming. Canada Post, in their latest press release, has revealed 5 major changes being made to their postal system in the next 5 years. Here's what you need to know:
- Home delivery will be entirely removed by 2018
- Community delivery (neighborhood/street mailboxes) will be put in place in 2014
- 6000+ workers will lose their jobs
- Stamps will cost more starting march 31 2014 (single $1, booklets/coils 85 cents)
- Streamlining of operations to include more store outlets and modern technology
Canadians have been reacting pretty strongly to the proposed plan, especially the choice to remove home delivery. Check out some of the #Canadapost tweets, and get tweeting yourself.
