Canada's First-Ever Outdoor Surf Wave Pool Is Opening Just North Of Montreal This Summer

Montreal has many summertime attractions but waves are not one of them. Sure, the city and its surroundings are home to a few river and lakeside beaches but none can offer the surf of the Atlantic and Pacific coasts.

That's a void one enterprise is hoping to fill.

Surf 117, set to open this summer, will be the "first outdoor pool dedicated to surfing in Canada." The site will consist of two basins, each 200 meters long, that will produce meter-long waves that can sustain a surfer for up to 25 seconds!

The outdoor pool is in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, just one hour north of Montreal. It will be the latest addition to L'Experience Boréale adventure and outdoor center.

Surfers may also access to other sites and activities in the park, which, according to the website, include: a beach, swimming, mountain biking, hiking, Le P'tit Train du Nord bike path, outdoor training circuit, volleyball beach, trout fishing, various sports fields, and other camping activities.

Visitors may bring their own surfing equipment or rent on site.

A single surf sessions costs $60, but there are deals for families and groups of ten. An option for reservations will be available soon online.

There is no definite opening date as of yet, but interested surfers should stay tuned to the Surf 117 website here!

It's sure to become a summer destination for surf-deprived Montrealers.

If you want to stick around, you could also rent an accommodation at the adjacent Domaine Lausanne camping site.

Check it out here!

Happy surfing!
