Despite its status as one of the most peaceful countries in the world, Canada still has its share of abhorrent criminal offenses. Very few criminals escape prosecution, but those who do become the subject of intense police investigations.
So that the public may submit information on outstanding cases, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) publishes the details of wanted individuals on its website.
Compiled below are the 20 individuals featured on the "Wanted" bulletin. Some of these people are consistently featured on the public list. Others are new additions. Remember that this list is subject to change.
Listed below each photo are offenders' names and details about their alleged crimes.
To ensure accuracy, all information is quoted directly from the RCMP website.
The RCMP warns, however, that Canadians should "take no action to apprehend these people. Report any information to the nearestย RCMP detachmentย or the police in your area or contactย Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477."

Wanted for: Fraud
"Bergstaller committed multiple frauds at various financial institutions in the Lower Mainland between July 2017 โ December 2017."
"It is believed he could be residing in Greater Montreal area."
Right: Wissam Tarabichi
RCMPWanted for: Abduction
"On April 4, 2018 the Abbotsford Police engaged in an investigation of parental abduction. Investigators discovered that on March 24, 2018 Wissam Tarabichi took his two children, daughter aged 9 yrs and son aged 8 yrs, to Seattle WA, USA."
"He is currently believed to be in Beirut Lebanon. He has family who lives in Le'Havre France, Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates."

Wanted for: Murder
"On May 7th, 2018, Toronto Police Service received a call for a personal injury collision. A male victim, Christopher Reid was located at the scene and found to have sustained several gunshot wounds."
"Richie Blackwood was identified as a primary suspect."

"McConnell is serving a two year, seven month sentence for Production of a Controlled Substance."
"He was reportedly last seen in Westin, Florida in November 2016."

Wanted for: Breach of release condition
"Yanick Laporte has been the subject of a federal warrant since 2002 for an array of acquisitive crimes, mostly break-and-enters on Montreal homes (over 60). He steals jewellery, money, electronics and valuables which he then sells to feed his various needs (life of leisure) and addictions (alcohol, cannabis, crack, speed)."
"Laporte has ties in Terrebonne, St-Lin, Montreal, Val d'Or and Toronto."

RCMPWanted for: Sexual assault
"On Wednesday, April 4, 2018, a 77 year old man in the Liberty Village area was sexually assaulted and money was extorted from the victim on more than one occasion."
"Dirie has multiple charges in relation to this case and a previous incident such as: three counts of Extortion; Sexual Assault; three counts of fail to comply probation; assault; two counts of fail to comply probation."
"He is considered "'Violent and Dangerous.'"

Wanted for: "Unlawfully at large"
"Clark has a lengthy criminal history dating back to 1982. His criminal history includes: Sexual assault, extortion, fraud and various other criminal offences. Clark has been known to set up fake businesses and claim to be the CEO. He is known to frequent coffee shops and converse with Asian women."
"He is considered 'Violent' and an 'Escape Risk.'"

RCMPWanted for: Second-degree murder
"In the early morning of January 18th, 2018, the victim attended a residential apartment to socialize with persons he knew. At approximately 3 am, the accused, Ali Omer Mohamed attended the same apartment and started drinking with the victim. Just before 6 am, Mohamed and the victim became embroiled in an argument which led to the accused shooting the victim. The victim sustained a fatal gunshot to the torso."
"Mohamed was a member of the Ottawa street gang named 'The Kids.' He goes by the street name of 'Simba.'"

Wanted for: First-degree murder
"On Friday, April 21, 2017, Toronto Police were called to the Dufferin Street and Bowie Avenue area for the sound of gunshots. The victim was found sitting in his car. He was shot by two persons while still in his vehicle."
"One of the suspects has been identified as Akil Whyte. Whyte has numerous connections in the GTA."

RCMPWanted for: Abduction
"Chieko Teton was with her husband Henrik and their one year old son Takaya in 2013 on vacation in Yokohama, Japan."
"Nearing the end of their vacation Chieko insisted on staying at the New Otani Inn hotel located in Yokohama-Shi Kanagawa, Japan as it was situated minutes from the transit system."
"While Henrik was showering in their hotel room, Chieko abducted their child, never to be seen or heard from again."

Wanted for: Murder
"On February 21 1981, a subject by the name of John Gleason was found in the state of mummified decomposition in the basement of a local building in Ottawa. An autopsy revealed that the subject had been stabbed approximately 50 times in the front and back torso and had his throat slit from ear to ear. After further investigation into the murder, it was revealed that Gregory Pictou was a primary assailant in the attack on Gleason."

"On the evening of April 2, 2016, Michael Gibson shot Julian Weekes outside a Toronto bar. Weekes fled but was found shortly afterwards deceased in a parking lot."

Wanted for: Second-degree murder
"On Sunday the 6th of September 2015, the Toronto Police Service responded to a 9-1-1 call for a stabbing in relation to an attempted robbery at Noble Park. Information provided by the caller indicated that two suspects had stabbed his friend and then fled the scene in a dark coloured vehicle. The victim, 23 year old Russel Sahadeo, was transported to Sunnybrook Hospital by ambulance but later succumbed to his injuries."
"One suspect in this case has turned himself into police and is currently in custody awaiting trial. Ngo has been identified as the second suspect currently being sought by the Toronto Police Homicide Squad."

"Ken Nguyen is currently serving a life sentence for second degree murder of a rival Asian gang member in 1999."
"Nguyen was granted permission by the Parole Board of Canada to travel to Vietnam from April to May of 2015 and failed to return. He has contacted his parole officer and indicated that he has decided to remain in Vietnam and will not be returning to Canada."

"Satheesan Shanmugarajah is presently wanted for conspiracy (5 counts), fraud over $5000 (3 counts), possession of instrument for copying credit card data (3 counts), forging or falsifying credit cards, commission of an offence for a criminal organization and participation in activities of a criminal organization."

Wanted for: First-degree murder
"Fernando Jimelo De Castro is wanted in the first degree murder of a 78 year old female. Both De Castro and his wife were working as house cleaners for the deceased at the time of the murder. Shortly after the body of the victim was discovered, De Castro and his wife fled to their home country of the Philippines."

"On November 18 2010, Varaporn Toassami departed Vancouver with her daughter Chonticha Galame Ellefson-Toassami, and flew to Bangkok, Thailand."
