Canadian Man Strangled His Girlfriend To Death And Tried To Make It Look Like A Suicide

On March 28, 2015, the body of a 31-year-old woman was found in the basement of a residence in Pinetree Bay Northeast in the community of Pineridge Calgary.

The couple in question had a history of domestic violence, however, in an attempt to cover up his brutal crime, the victim's boyfriend had told the police that his girlfriend took her own life.

That story didn't get very far with the police, though, as the autopsy and further investigation by the police quickly revealed a different story, and totally refuted the boyfriend's far-fetched claim.

The investigation showed that she not only sustained blunt force trauma to her head, she was also violently strangled for two whole minutes. Essentially, she had the life sucked out of her and died in the hands of her boyfriend.

The boyfriend was subsequently arrested in November of the same year and charged with 2-degree murder.

In April 2018, the boyfriend pleaded guilty to a charge of manslaughter. This Tuesday, he was finally scented to a mere 11-years in prison.

Many people are outraged that the perpetrator of such a cruel and harrowing crime would be sentenced for such a short period of time.  And that this final sentence does not do justice for the victim and her family.

Without a doubt, if this crime was committed in the United States, the end result would likely be vastly different for the offender.
