It's official, the Montreal underground city will be getting a much-needed extension.

This extension will take the form of a beautiful modern and elevated walkway that will connect Tour des Canadiens 2 and 3 to the Deloitte Tower, the Bell Centre, and the underground network.

Although the Tour Des Canadiens are luxury condos, The Quad Windsor Skybridge will be accessible to the public.

It will be functional by providing a pedestrian link between downtown and the neighborhoods to the south, but also, adding a contemporary work of art with a modern and sleek appeal to the urban design of the area. Form and function in one!

The concept has been conceived by Ombrages lighting design and engineering firm, who also worked on iconic Montreal landmarks such as the Olympic Park Tower, Montréal Casino, Le Quai de l’Horloge, and the illumination of the Jacques-Cartier bridge.

I spend a lot of time in the underground during the winter, I'm excited to know that Montrealers will able to travel to Griffintown to Peel through the underground network.

You won't have to wait too long for the bridge to open, the walkway is officially set to open in mid-2019!

There are still a ton of things to do this Monday holiday!
  • Here's a short list of what's open and what's closed on Labour Day in Montreal.
  • If you're heading out, make sure to call ahead to your destination to inquire about reduced hours.

Yes, it's a long weekend! Three uninterrupted days to relax, have fun, and not think for two seconds about things like school or work, or other responsibilities until Tuesday morning. Not to be too depressing but it will be six weeks before we get another official long weekend.

But let's focus on the positive! This is usually one of the summer weekends that people are trying to pack in their last days of camping or chalet time. But if you're planning to stay in the city it's good to know what's open and what's closed so you can plan out your Labour Day weekend.
