Drinking Tequila Makes You Lose Weight? Yes, Drinking Tequila Makes You Lose Weight

Not only does tequila get your that next-level-forget-some-stuff-style wasted, it can help you lose weight and lower your blood sugar. Sounds too good to be true, we know, but a new study by the American Chemical Society proves it is so.
Tequila contains a special type of sugar called agavina which isn't absorbed by the body. In the study, mice who were given agavina produced more insulin, lowered blood sugar, and shed some weight.
A type of fiber, the agavina in tequila promotes feelings of fullness and reduces appetite, hence the weight loss.
As of now, tequila is one of the only ways to get the miracle-sugar that is agavina. Pounding back shots of Jose Cuervo isn't always the best idea, whether you're trying to lose weight or not, but at least you can feel a little better about getting shwastey on tequila.
More research needs to be done on whether agavina works the same in humans as it does in mice, but that's enough incentive for us to start the tequila diet. One shot before meals to make us eat less and get a 'lil tipsy? Sounds about right.
