Drinking Wine Can Help You Have Clearer Skin

Is science ever really wrong?
Drinking Wine Can Help You Have Clearer Skin

Acne is not fun. No one likes blotchy skin when they go out and hit the town, on themselves or on anyone else. Drinking wine is pretty fun though, so good thing the red stuff can actually help you keep your skin clear, as a new study from UCLA has found.

Resveratrol, an antioxidant from grapes and found in red wine, demonstrated the ability to limit acne outbreaks and keep skin clear, especially when sipped alongside your standard acne creams. Not your typical wine pairing, but sufferers of acne may want to give it a try.

Basically, red wine + acne medication combine to create one-two punch against acne. Benzoyl peroxide (what's in acne cream) first destroys all the bacteria that makes you have acne, then the resveratrol from red wine prevents new bacteria from forming and growing.

Not only do the two compounds destroy acne bacteria and keep them away from for longer periods of time, Dr. Emma Taylor, the study's first author, also notes how the combination of benzoyl peroxide and resveratrol minimizes the toxic effects acne cream can have on your skin, making irritation and rashes less likely to occur.

Let's not forget the other amazing effect red wine/resveratrol has on the body: letting you skip the gym. Another study found that drinking wine has the same benefits as going to the gym, so not only does the red stuff keep your skin stay clean, clear, and under control, it also makes your body all fit and sexy. Truly, wine is the drink of the gods.
