To many of Montreal residents, Laval seems like a foreign land. However, the reality is that it is only a bridge away and there is actually more to the city than just shopping at Carrefour.
Recently, we wrote on the most authentic gyros in Montreal. In response, a lot of our readers opined that the best gyros are in fact in Laval. This is not surprising due to the large population of Greeks living in Laval. The Chomedy area has even been called “little Greece” due to its abundance of Greek food and culture.
We decided to leave the 514 and head on over to the 450 to see what all the hype was about, and guys…it was totally worth the drive!

Where: 4365 Boul Notre-Dame
Christina’s is a family owned joint that is known for its delicious homemade greek dishes. Not only are the family style plates to die for, but the gyro is simply next level.
The fresh pita combined with the flavours of the meat mixed with their homemade tzatziki is pretty epic.
Christinas prides itself on the quality and authenticity of their meals and you could taste a little bit of Greece in every bite.

If you recognize this restaurant from our last list, it is because this eatery has a location in both Montreal and Laval.
This established Greek diner serves up savoury souvlaki plates, mind-blowing gyros and tasty salads.
Village Grec is known to Greeks as a go-to spot to get that Greek street food craving taken care of.

This small but mighty location serves up some of the most flavourful gyros you will ever bite into.
Not only is the meat to sauce ratio perfect, but everything is seasoned to perfection. You can also add french fries to your gyro, which is actually how they do it in Greece.

Many people have raved about the decadent gyro at Vieux Grec but I truly had to taste it to believe it.
The cute décor suits their classic Greek street food style dishes and the taste you get with every bite you take is unlike most restaurants.
From the ingredients, to the particular style of cooking everything, this eatery is worth the drive.

Marathon’s is a super popular chain in Montreal, but the original location is actually in Laval.
They are known for their consistency, quality and taste, and if you have never tried the original location, you should!
