- MTL Blog went on the hunt for the best Mexican restaurants in Montreal - and got hungry in the process of doing so.
- What to eat first: Tacos? Margaritas? Enchiladas?
- Check out our favourite spots in the city below!
Chef's Pencil, a website dedicated to professional chef recipes and culinary news, released a report last week of Quebec's Top 10 Most Popular Ethnic Cuisines According to Google. And while Chinese food was number one on that list, Mexican food came in at number five - with its popularity being the highest in Gatineau (1), Montreal (2) and Laval (3). With such high popularity in our city, we went on the hunt for the best Mexican restaurants in Montreal.
Chef's Pencil took into account thousands of search terms, in both official languages, to find out what terms Quebecers are using when they are dining out at restaurants (eg: Mexican restaurant) and also what Quebecers are eating at home (eg: recette mexicaine).
Among all the Canadian provinces, Mexican food is the most popular in British Columbia, followed by Alberta and then Ontario. But Montreal can still hold its own as far as eating out is concerned.
Along with tons of taco joints in Montreal, (for a full list, check out 24 of the best taco spots) there are also some restaurants that focus on more authentic plates, typical Mexican breakfasts, and amazing tequila rosters. And don't forget the margaritas.
Without further ado, here are eight of the best places in Montreal when you want to grab some Mexican grub.
