September is full of images of back to school, the beginning of cooler weather, pumpkin spice lattes, and stuffing your face for one straight full week with the most ridiculously gluttonous burgers ever to be put on a plate.
That's right. It's Le Burger Week in Montreal. That magical time from September 1-7, when participating Montreal restaurants will create a signature burger that is supposed to best reflect their cuisine but is usually more of a cheesy, gooey competition of how much fried decadence you can shove between two buns.
Restaurants will then compete for one of the crown titles like Most Popular Burger, Healthiest Burger, or Best Looking Burger. Burger-lovers vote for their favourite but if the judges don't agree, there is also a Judges Choice title winner.
With so many restaurants taking part, and so many amazing (and sometimes terrifying) choices we took a look at some of the crazier burger creations that we would be more than willing to try.
We narrowed it down to seven, which wasn’t easy. But that leaves us with a doable burger a day for a week. Here are the seven most ridiculous burgers based on nothing other than they elicited a 'wtf' comment.
Rosélys: The Tasty Tongue Burger

The burger that can taste you back. It's a braised beef tongue burger, with foie gras escalope, coleslaw, and crispy pickles.
La Belle et La Boeuf: The Black Widow
Address: 510 Promenade Du Centropolis, Laval
I love everything about this burger. I have no idea what a 'charcoal activated crust' is, but it comes with one along with Saputo cheddar, smoked bacon center cut, spicy Sriracha, mustard, and beer sauce.
Z Tapas Lounge: Quesadelvi
Address: 1165 Boul. St-Laurent
There is so much going on here. It's a beef burger between two tortilla shells that are held together by bacon, jalapeño jam, cheese mixture, garlic and pickle mayonnaise, iceberg lettuce, tomatoes and topped off with a fried avocado.
