The popular sushi restaurant in the Village, Le Blossom Bar, has teamed up with Le Passé Composé to create Plus-Que-Parfait, an all-new Montreal brunch experience. It is absolutely perfect for any sushi lover out there who also happens to fall into the category of brunch lover. The new brunch menu aims to pair classic French bistro cuisine with Japanese fusion flavours — and the result is a fresh and unique take on the mid-morning meal that Montrealers love so much.
Plus, the unique space features bright, geometric decor that is topped off with a beautiful pink cherry blossom tree.
I got a chance to go and try out some of the amazing dishes from the new brunch menu, and let me tell you, I was not disappointed.
There were many options running the gamut of classic brunch fare, but upon closer inspection, each dish was tweaked to include special Japanese and sushi-inspired flavours, like sesame or miso. From chicken and waffles to a dippable French toast, this menu truly has something for everyone.
The full menu, which includes panko-fried French toast, matcha soufflé pancakes, and poached eggs with duck or salmon (the Blossom take on a Benedict), can be found via Le Blossom's website.
Be warned: you may end up drooling and dreaming of the weekend when you can go try it yourself.
Weekend brunch also features the option for bottomless mimosas on both Saturdays and Sundays.
Seen above is the Sakura Mimosa, made with prosecco, pink grapefruit juice and yuzu. A classic mimosa with OJ is also available, along with other cocktails like a peach bellini, a gin Caesar, and a yuzu spritz.
A stand-out dish for me was the chicken and waffles, which has quickly become a staple on Montreal brunch menus in recent years.
This dish at Le Blossom is unique as it features some signature Japanese flavours, like baby cilantro, miso honey, and daikon.
But the pièce de résistance has to be the inclusion of wakame, a seaweed salad packed with sesame flavour that perfectly compliments the sweet honey drizzle and savoury fried karaage chicken.
I could go back right now for more.
