Montreal is obviously known for its versatility in everything, including food.
We are stocked with the best of the best; from Greek to Middle Eastern to even Italian and Asian, we know that our food is outstanding.
The reality is, that when it comes to German döner kebabs however, we were a bit in need.
That is why I was so excited when I heard that a new spot called Station Berlin opened in Montreal this past spring.
A husband and wife saw a need for these mouth-watering items and wanted them to be accessible to Montrealers, which is how this little treasure came to be.
Located on rue Saint-Urbain, this new spot should be next on your list!
For those of you unfamiliar with Turkish German döner kebabs, you are in for a real treat. This street food item contains a shredded meat mixture with a unique sauce topped with chopped vegetables and wrapped in a warm Turkish bread that the restaurant receives fresh daily.
Their menu includes the Original Döner and The Kreuzberger, which is loaded with sautéed vegetables and feta cheese. Meat options include beef, lamb and chicken. Vegetiarians can substitute meat for falafel, halloumi and Beyond Meat brand meat imitation.
Although this type of meal is not as popular in North America, it is a favourite throughout Europe and I have a feeling it is going to be a favourite in our city.
With imported beers from Germany, Station Berlin’s food, drinks and décor will give you the illusion of being in Europe, and who doesn’t want to travel to Europe for a meal?
