The McGill Sustainability Projects Fund is celebrating 10 years with a free houseplant giveaway for McGill students! There is a limited number of plants, so interested students should show up early! Visit MTLBlog for more headlines. There is good news and there is bad news. The good news is that you can spruce up your apartment with a free, no money-exchanged plant! The bad news is that you have to have a valid McGill ID for said free plant. For all those McGill students out there who are ready to make the commitment to care for another living thing, then this October 24 make sure you're on the downtown or MacDonald McGill campuses to get on in some free plant giveaway action. The free plants are in celebration of the McGill Sustainability Projects Fund, which is turning 10 years old. The Sustainability Projects Fund is the largest of its kind in Canada and focuses on "[active engagement] in sustainability initiatives on campus, empowering individuals to be change agents in their own studying and work environment." Ok, so that's kind of cool. But you don't even have to know the history or directive to get your plant. All you have to do is show up at one of the three downtown campus locations (or the one Macdonald campus spot) with your McGill ID to claim your newest photosynthesizing friend. You're making the world a little greener and committing yourself to adult behaviour by saying, "Look, I too can keep something alive...kind of." No word yet on what type of plant they are giving away other than an elusive 'houseplant' hint. But isn't the suspense just killing you? My god, could it be a cactus? A succulent? A hanging basket? My heart's beating faster just thinking of the options.
