Fine Mediterranean cuisine, fresh fish and seafood are hard to come by in Montreal, both on and off the island. Thankfully, for all those who love fresh fish, seafood and authentic Mediterranean cuisine, Skara Estiatorio at Quartier Dix30 in Brossard is a new(ish) spot to consider checking out.\nSkara offers a prestigious wine cellar, appetizing mezethes, delectable grilled specialties, traditional dishes and fresh fish grilled on the spot to your liking. We sampled a selection of Skara’s many appetizers, which work incredibly well as light tapas-style eats.\nWe sampled shrimp saganaki, flambéed in ouzo and dressed with a zesty tomato sauce and crumbled feta, jumbo crab cakes paired with lemon-chive aioli, grilled octopus paired with roasted red peppers, capers, and onions, and a mixed assortment of grilled vegetables. Our meal was complimented with a bottle of Pavlidis Thema; a premium imported Sauvignon Blanc/Assyrtiko wine from Greece.\nEach dish was delicious in their own right. The shrimp saganaki was well balanced, the vibrant tomato sauce cooled down by the feta, and the shrimp were huge! Crab cakes are always a fan favourite and Skara does the dish justice, and the aioli is a fresh and tangy accompaniment. Our favourite choice is the grilled octopus, which was quite succulent and full of flavour; tender while still being lightly charred by the grill.\nIf you want to experience what Skara does best, you need to order a fresh fish dish. Sea Bass, Red Snapper, Alaskan king crab, just to name a few, are offered on the menu and ready to be grilled to perfection. Skara boasts a selection of fresh fish imported weekly from the Mediterranean Sea.\nAnd then there’s dessert at Skara, which is arguably just as good as anything else on the menu. We tried the homemade Greek yogurt parfait, sweetened with honey and served with Greek cherries, and the renown Loukoumades, which are Greek honey dough balls garnished with crushed walnuts and honey.\nSkara features theme nights such as Land & Sea (filet mignon and lobster tail) Mondays and Oyster Tuesdays. Once Spring arrives, look forward to Skara's exquisite terrace that is reminiscent of a breathtaking Mediterranean seaside. Come and enjoy a terrace tapas menu surrounded by palm trees and draped in traditional blue and white decor. This April, Skara will be celebrating its 1 year anniversary, “Greek style”. Until then, come and savor Skara's fresh seafood-centric menu and specialty cocktails and take in the Mediterranean scenery and carefree spirit!\nBe sure to SURF their menu, LIKE their Facebook page, FOLLOW them on Instagram and TWEET them on Twitter.
