• NDG ice cream shop Ca Lem is opening for the season with an online order system.
  • Customers need to select a time to pick up their orders so that they can avoid crowds.

Part of the greatness of the city in the summer is all the amazing ice cream shops that are open for business. Among them, Ca Lem is one of the most popular, earning local fame for its amazing flavours, fresh taste, and consistency. Even though summer 2020 will be a little different, NDG residents can still count on Ca Lem for their ice cream fix.

The creamery went to Instagram to share the good news that its team is "ready for summer!" — with a few tweaks to the experience.

The Instagram post asks customers to "place [their] orders online and pick up at the day and time of [their] convenience through our window for a contactless and safe experience."

Customers can get everything from a single scoop to pints to bring home.

According to the company website, one scoop will cost you a big $3.05. Two scoops will run you up $5.

Currently, on the website, available flavours include matcha-coco, oreo-coco, hibiscus sorbet, mango sorbet, and toasted marshmallow.

There is also a $5 soft-serve option available involving chocolate sorbet and roasted marshmallows — the perfect dessert for when you're missing those summer bonfires.

Ca Lem is just one of many Montreal-area ice cream shops that are already opening for the season with some changes to ensure that customers adhere to social distancing measures.

According to Narcity Québec, Dalla Rose, Maître Glacier, Le Bilboquet, Radikal Dezzertz, La Diperie, and a handful of others are already serving cold treats for takeout and delivery.

In times of struggle and uncertainty, it's nice to know that we can depend on many local businesses to keep our spirits high.

"Thank you for buying local and support small businesses at this weird time," Ca Lem concludes its Instagram message.
