There's a new addition to Montreal's food scene: Nevski, a Russian restaurant whose menu is nothing short of amazing.\nFrom dumplings to cheeseboats and a Russian poutine, this place will make you feel like you're in Soviet-era Leningrad...well sort of.\nVisit MTLBlog for more headlines.\nMontreal has a new Russian restaurant with a flavour-filled menu, and I'm about to explode with excitement just thinking about it! Montreal's food scene has very few Russian restaurants, that's why it's so exciting to hear that Nevski, a new Russian spot on rue Stanley, has officially opened.\nNot only is the decor incredible, but the food they make in the kitchen takes Russian cuisine in the city to an entirely new level.\nThis self-described "casual" downtown spot has a small yet hearty menu. The restaurant has four types of dumplings, including beef, pork, veal, and onion with tarragon sauce; chicken with adjika sauce and cilantro; pork pelmeni; and the classic potato, onion, and dill with bacon and sour cream.\nThey also have three types of pirojki, stuffed buns baked in the oven: beef and onion, braised cabbage, and, my personal favourite, potato with dill and scallions.\nBut the highlight of the menu is the khachapuri, described as "homemade bread dough filled with melted cheese, a traditional dish made up of boat-shaped dough, topped with a runny egg yolk, butter" and the customer's choice of topping.\nNevski offers four different variations of the dish. You can, of course, get the traditional cheese boat, or you can try something more unique, including one option with Russian meatballs and vodka sauce.\nView this post on Instagram Cheeseboat, dumplings and donuts @nevski.mtl #foodie #foodies #foodstagram #instafood #food #montreal #canada #quebec #mtlfoodie #mtlfoodies #mtlfood #travel #pvt #instatravel #mtl #montrealfood #foodblogger #foodphotography #ilovemtl #tastemontreal #yelpmtl #eatermtl #feedmemontreal A post shared by Louise (@ruisa27) on Oct 25, 2019 at 4:52am PDT\nNevski even offers instructions on their menu for how to eat this flavour-filled dish:\nStep 1: "With your fork, mix the contents of your cheeseboat,"\nStep 2: "Take a piece of the crust and dip it in the melty mix."\nStep 3: "Devour!"\nStep 4: "Repeat steps 2 and 3 until there’s none left."\nThe team at this establishment has even created stroganoff poutine, a mixture of stroganoff sauce, braised beef, Portobello mushroom, and cheddar cheese.\nView this post on Instagram Our soft-opening hours continue : Thursday 6:30-9pm / Friday 11:30am-2:30pm ; 6:30-9pm !
