I consider myself to be a BIG fan of sushi and all things related, but when it comes to eating it in this city, often times the results can be hit or miss. Unless of course you want to drop the big monies. That's why when I come across a new sushi restaurant that not only delivers on cost, but great tasting and beautifully presented quality, I tend to rave about them long after my belly was deliciously filled.\nWell, I just added a new one to my list and can't wait to go back!\nKebuki Salad - Served with octopus.\nDriving down the somewhat industrial strip of Jean-Talon West street, hidden in plain sight really, is the rather stylish Kodimoto. The resto itself is contemporary, with an urban Japanese flair typical of a modern sushi bar, and seating roughly 40-50 people.\nMy dinner date and I perused the different variety of dishes and options on the menu, all very well detailed by our friendly server, becoming exponentially more hungry than when we walked in.\nIt was early on a Tuesday evening, so the dinning room was all but empty, except for another couple half-way through what looked like amazing maki rolls. IT gave us the chance to meet the very unassuming Chef Kodi, busy prepping for service.\nSince it was my first time at Kodimoto, I obviously wanted to try all the good stuff, and Chef Kodi agreed to dish up a tasting menu of his best hits and personal faves. Let me tell you, they were every bit as good as they look.\nGyoza - Dumplings stuffed with pork belly & veggies, served with ginger-soy dipping sauce.\nSashimi plate - Fresh salmon and tuna prepared with house vinigrette.\nMount Kodi - Spicy salmon and crab tartare topped with taro strips, served in avocado.\nCrispy Chicken Bites + Spring Rolls - Served with sesame dipping sauce.\nHeart-Breaker - Katsu shrimp, spicy tuna, crab, caviar, oshinko & avocado rolled in soybean paper, topped with salmon and served with a soy-based ginger sauce.\nKodi Mon - Outside: Tuna, salmon, Albacore & avocado / Inside: Salmon tartare, caviar, onion ring rolled in mamenori paper and served with a soy-based sauce.\nGot Rice? - Shrimp, crab, tuna, caviar, oshinko, cucumber, avocado, mango & salad rolled in rice paper served with sesame sauce.\nNeedless to say, we were thoroughly stuffed after all of these wonderful dishes, and simply had no more room left in our bellies for Chef Kodi's desserts sadly.
