For Francofolie, Festival Mural, or just for plain ol' summer fun, St Laurent has been sectioned off between Sherbrooke and Mont Royal for pedestrians to walk and gawk at the many attractions situated on 'The Main.' While the many thrift shops, clothing stores, and lack of dangerous Montreal traffic are all major appeals to check out St Lo this weekend, the real appeal is all the delicious food just waiting to be eaten.\nNearly every food vendor on St Laurent has set up an outdoor stand for passersby to smell, salivate, and ideally eat their tasty wares. Even stores traditionally not associated with food have set up spaces, like Pharmaprix, who is selling a nostalgic glass of lemonade for $2. Be sure to come with cash in hand, as none of the outdoor establishments have a debit machine handy. Everything is generally priced at $1-2 for smaller stuff (churros, spring rolls and the like) and can go up to around $7-8 for the more upscale street food. Bring a ten dollar bill and you should be set for a snack, meal, and even dessert.\nTons of options are at your stomach's disposal this weekend. It may seem a little daunting to traverse the near 2km stretch of road from Sherbrooke to Mont Royal, and trust me, on an empty stomach, it ain't fun. Fortunately you can find most of food options between Prince Arthur and Rachel. Consider that the foodie's main on 'The Main.' Small treats like grilled corn or mango-on-a-stick will also ward off hunger pangs 'til you've made a decision\nTraditional Montreal late night food options are all out in full force. Pizza Bella Donna and the others can be found out on the street with pizza pies to tempt you. Just Noodles, Asahi, and other sushi/Asian food venues are out much earlier than usual with the classic 2 dollar chow mein . Buns and Bocadillo are side by side with their regular double whammy of delicious grilled meats on a bun. Delicious as all of these options are, this isn't anything new for a St Laurent veteran. You can get this stuff anytime. I'd recommend checking out the more esoteric food options available on the street this weekend.\nSeemingly out of place, at least for street food, is Segal's Market paella tent. Right outside, for everyone to watch in awe, are giant skillets frying seafood and rice into the delicious Spanish dish. It is seriously a thing of beauty. For $5, or $7 for a large, you can enjoy an authentic Spanish rice dish chock full of mussels, oysters, and calamari. A little awkward to eat on the go, but well worth the mess.\nA few bars, restaurants, and even bakeries can be seen grilling sausages and steaks, with smokey fumes tempting hungry folks. All of them seem delicious, but Charcuterie Hongroise caught my eye for their more unique sausage-offerings. At the forefront of their makeshift menu is the 'Berliner Currywurst,' a sausage infused with Indian spices and topped with a curry steak sauce. I couldn't resist. A combination of sweet and spicy, the Currywurst is definitely a solid option for those looking for a fusion of flavours.\nAlso of worthy of note is the Chef Guru food stand. Chef Guru offers a very affordable and delicious biryani for only $2, as well as their infamous curry poutine.\nTo satisfy your sweet tooth, Juliet and Chocolat will be selling lemonade, brownies, and even crepes. Rolopan is similarly crafting crepes for those looking for a bit of decadence. Dessert lovers rejoice.\nThirst quenchers are readily available throughout the street. As mentioned, a few lemonade stands can be found for those looking for a safe and classic beverage. Those looking for a bit more excitement can check out the tropical fruit juice stand, where blended smoothies are at the ready for you to consume, or add alcohol to with your on-hand flask. Nearly every bar has also set up an outdoor area, so don't pass up the option of having a quick drink break and relax your legs between the many meals available on St Laurent this weekend.
