When sushi first started becoming popular I wasn't the biggest fan. I love fish but I just didn't enjoy the texture and taste of raw fish. But after years of trying a few pieces here and there I eventually developed a taste for it. But had I known that this kind of sushi existed it probably would have taken a lot less time to convince me to try it.

This is the BLT sushi roll, it's sushi for people who don't like sushi (though I'm pretty sure sushi lovers will enjoy it as well). It's filled with bacon, lettuce and tomato and topped garlic aioli and a slice of roasted bell pepper. So if you have that one friend who still refuses to eat sushi because of the raw fish, appeal to their inner fast-food junky with these little beauties.

Here's what you'll need to make your own BLT sushi rolls:

  • Mayonnaise
  • Water
  • Garlic
  • Basil
  • Bacon
  • Lettuce
  • Avocado
  • Roasted red pepper
  • Tomato
  • Sushi rice
  • Nori wraps

Spread 4 oz of cooked sushi onto nori paper. Place the cooked bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato on the other side of the nori (The side without rice). Roll everything up using a bamboo mat and top with roasted bell pepper. Using plastic wrap to hold everything in place, slice the roll into 8 even pieces. Top everything off with basil mayo.
