Best Montreal Drunk Food Spots
After committing some serious liver suicide, nothing feels better than some good old greasy food. Going to bed on a stomach filled with tequila, vodka, beer, and anything else you may down is never a good idea. Settling your stomach with some carbs will definitely ease the pain, and might even prevent an awful hangover the next morning. Montreal is home to some of the best late night snack joints. Whether it be a massive poutine or a cheesy pizza, the city surely knows how to accommodate those late night drunchie cravings.
Steamed Hot Dogs At Montreal Pool Room
Where: 1217 Saint-Laurent
Why: No actual pool in this place and no cares because they have the best hot dogs in the city. If you want a seedy joint that's cheap where you're sure to find a crazy cast of drunken characters, the Montreal Pool Room is for you. Open since 1912, this place has stayed in operation for a good reason: these dogs be the hottest.
Two Dollar Chow Mein
Where: Multiple locations/any Asian restaurant past 9pm on the weekend
Why: Whoever created this unlikely combo of fried noodles and unadulterated peanut butter is a straight up genuis. For some reason Montreal seems to be the only city to have adopted this strange drunk dish, and it may seem weird, but the intense greasiness makes it all kinds of tasty. Sure, it may sit like a rock in your stomach until next morning, but in the moment there's nothing better. The original joint has long been closed; you can find toonie chow in the storefront window of any Chinese food join on St. Lo, or any major nightlife street. Adding Sriracha is a must.
Where: Cosmo's snack bar (5843 Sherbrooke W)
Why: Ain't nothing better than getting some night cheese, a life lesson learned from the infamous Liz Lemon. Le Cheese rocked our world this summer with their deliciously cheesy creations, and thank the cheese gods they are still open during the winter at Cosmos in NDG. Open from 9pm 'til 3am Thursday through Saturday, Le Cheese will hit all the drunk spots.
Where: 3864 St. Laurent
Why: Sometimes you just have a craving for smoked meat. Don't fight it, its in the Montreal air or something, and when you need your fix really late at night, the Main Deli is the only place to go. Open until 5am, the Main has all the classic deli meals, sandwiches, and desserts. Forget Schwartz's, the Main is where its at.
Where: Boustan (2020 Crescent), Amir (multiple locations), Sara (multiple locations)
Why: Montrealers love a good shawarma, and for good reason. The magical mix of meat, veggies, and carbs makes for the perfect drunk food-fix. Boustan is hailed as the best in the city, open 'til 4am with delivery. If you're not by Crescent, Amir (most open 24hrs) and Sara are great alternatives. Don't forget the potatoes with heavanly garlic sauce on the side.
Where: 4494 St. Denis
Why: If you're looking for a late night spot that does it all, from breakfast to dessert, burgers to souvlaki, and anything else you may need, Rapido is the place for you. Serving hungry customers all day everyday (open 24hrs), Rapido remains the best option for those drunk on St. Denis until the wee hours of the morning. Cut your hangover in half and fill up on Rapido next time your out wandering the streets trolling for food.
Where: 1404 Drummond
Why: No one beats the munchies like Joe's Panini. Seriousley, they have everything a stoner could want. Cold beverages, tons of snacks, mac 'n cheese, and delicious paninis. Priced at just under $6, with tons of panini options for all diets, Joe's Panini is an affordable and tasty meal at any hour of the day. Seriosley, its open 24hrs so you can literally go whenever hunger calls.
Where: 3667 St Laurent & 1 Mont Royal O.
Why: Nothing beats an unhealthy amount of meat after a night of debauchery. With two locations on St. Laurent (one on des Pins, the other Mont-Royal), Bocadillo is not hard to find and is open late on the nights you need it most aka the weekend. Bocadillo's serves an infamous Passion Fruit Pulled Pork Sandwich that will blow your mind, and the Mont-Royal location has a huge list of meat and veggie arepas, not available at the des Pins location. Choose wisely and know that either way your in for a great late night meal. Don't forget to pair it with some yuca fries, arguably better than their potatoe counterpart.
Where: 1662 Maisonneuve
Why: Pizza is a standard late night drunk snack in Montreal, and its pretty easy to find. After 4am, however, your lucky to find a pizzeria open that doesn't have super stale slices. Thank god for the late night/early morning hours of Angela's Pizza. Making pies and deliveries until 5:30am (6am on Fridays and Saturdays), Angela is like a late night pizza angel.
