The Golden Globes last night were marked by both historic moments and tremendous upsets. Despite optimistic projections, for example, A Star Is Born, starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, lost in all major categories except best original song.

Meanwhile Canadian actress Sandra Oh, who also hosted the awards, became the second woman of Asian descent to win the award for Best Actress in a television drama.

Either intentionally or unintentionally, Cuthbert became a fixture of red carpet photos and interviews. In multiple images, she can be seen lurking in the background, staring intensely and beckoning viewers with her shiny tray of Fiji water.

Hundreds of memes and comments are now circulating on Twitter in celebration of "Fiji Water Girl."

The pride with which Cuthbert performed her duty struck many viewers.

Others were impressed by the opportunism.

The woman clearly has aspirations and the internet supports her in her endeavours.

She might be our culture's best hope right now.

Cuthbert has yet to comment on her newfound fame, but we can only imagine that several professional opportunities are coming her way.

This Canadian may be the most memorable feature of the 2019 Golden Globes.
