He speaks openly and eloquently about how hard and isolating this time was for him. He also shares the feeling he had when he decided to let help in and how it changed the trajectory of his life for the better. It’s rare that I say anything positive about the Daily Mail but I’m so glad James Middleton shared this publicly in such a candid way. And I really like this perspective: “I am pleased I went through debilitating depression because I now have the skills to fight it.” — Jessica Wakeman (@JessicaWakeman) January 12, 2019 Now, Middleton can be found breeding beautiful dogs and continuing to head a greeting card company called Boomf. He doesn't simply love dogs... in fact, he explains that it was his dog Ella that helped him the most during his darkest days. She was a real companion for him during his struggles. View this post on Instagram Proud of Ella becoming a PAT dog this year. Animals can provide a sense of calm, comfort, or safety and divert attention away from a stressful situation and toward one that provides pleasure. Advocates of animal-assisted therapy say that developing a bond with an animal can help people develop a better sense of self-worth and trust, stabilise their emotions, and improve their communication, self-regulation, and socialisation skills. I am a huge believer in this & Ella has done so much for me and we look forward to sharing the love, Timmy tickles and many visits in 2019 @petsastherapy_uk A post shared by James Middleton (@jmidy) on Dec 31, 2018 at 7:07am PST He now advocates for Pets As Therapy, a group that connects people to registered therapy animals in the UK. In addition to PAT, Middleton is joining his sister and the Princes Harry and William to speak out against mental health stigma. With such a massive platform, and his siblings already addressing the stigma of mental health with their Heads Together initiative, it was clearly the natural next step for Mr. Middleton. That still doesn't make it any easier to talk about, so kudos to him. I just want to take a minute to applaud James Middleton for having the courage to share his story about dealing with depression. It just goes to show it can affect anyone, even those who may not seem to have any problems looking from the outside. pic.twitter.com/jm42jgHE95 — Katie (@katiesroyallove) January 12, 2019 @jmidyembedded via Don't you wish he could look at you like this?
