Cirque Du Soleil has always been a favourite of mine. With its impressive performances, beautiful costumes, incredible set designs and pulsating light shows, it’s no wonder that the spectacle is still going strong!\nCirque du Soleil announced a new touring show called VOLTA which will be presented under the Big Top in Montreal’s Old Port later this month. Luckily, I was fortunate enough to experience three acts from the show which completely blew my mind.\nThe show is unlike any other Cirque du Soleil show I’ve ever witnessed, and boy am I quite the connoisseur, having been to multiple shows, Cirque du Soleil never fails to impress me.\nFrom the bright lights and the beautiful costumes to the perfectly composed sound of 90’s alternative-rock by M83 and the urban setting, the show brings something that fans of Cirque du Soleil have never seen before.\nVOLTA tells the story of a game show host named WAZ who, in the pursuit of fame, has lost touch with his inner self. WAZ embarks on a journey of self-discovery, enlightened by his childhood memories, he encounters SPIRITS who help guide him on his journey.\nThe show is a story about being true to yourself and knowing that freedom is the ultimate rush. So how do the directors of VOLTA convey this theme? Well, it all starts with the world of action sports.\nWriter and director, Bastien Alexandre and creative director Jean Guibert, dove head first into the unknown realm of action sports in order to bring about the spirit of adventure that pervades this world. Drawing inspiration from BMX riders, parkour enthusiasts, bungee jumpers, tight wire performers, and even acrobats, Bastien and Jean challenged themselves to create a show packed with action sports interpreted the Cirque way!\nIf you love the thrill of extreme sports then this is the show you don’t want to miss. From the minute the music hits your ears, you can be sure to expect an action packed show by some insane performers who are no strangers to living life on the edge. Seriously, these performers make flipping in the air look easy, especially in the effortless way in which they perform their tricks.\nVOLTA takes something as ordinary as skipping rope and turns it into something absolutely extraordinary! Now, it wouldn’t be a true Cirque du Soleil show without some jaw-dropping performances, I mean, all executions are sure to leave you at the edge of your seat but boy did they ever pull through by incorporating a spectacular BMX act with some astonishing tricks. But… my lips are sealed. You’ll just have to go watch the show for yourself!\nDon’t miss out on the latest show from Cirque du Soleil starting April 20! Head over to their website and buy your tickets for VOLTA before they sell out. Trust me, you will not be disappointed!
