When an Izakaya is done right, it makes for some seriously satisfying foodie experiences. With a super welcoming vibe, incredibly tasty Asian-inspired tapas, and refreshingly creative drinks and cocktails, honestly, chilling at a Japanese pub with your friends is pretty much the best way to enjoy a summer evening in the city. And you're in luck, because Montreal's Kinka Izakaya has got all of this (and then some!). As soon as you step into Kinka's gorgeous decor, you'll be transported to another world. A delicious world, full of amazing flavours and uniquely good times you won't find anywhere else. Japanese #izakaya are like German beer hall, with better food and awesome 90s music. Examples of just some of the yummy items on their mouth-watering menu? The "Kurage" dish, with sweet sesame fermented jellyfish; the "Neo Shoyu Ramen", a savoury ramen dish with fish, chicken, and pork broth, barbecue pork, scallion; and the "Eihire", seared stingray fin with spicy mayo. If you've never had Sake before, this is THE place to try it. Kinka has a huge selection of warm and cold sake (bamboo sake served in actual bamboo anyone?), including their own brand of sake imported from Nagano, Japan. Plus they probably do the loudest Sake bombs in the whole city! But if sake's not really your thing, don't worry, they also have daily drink specials and awesome cocktails, including my personal favourite: the Sakura with red wine (!!), peach liquor and 7-Up. Tuesdays are SAKE nights! @kinkaizakayamtl Sake Flight…choose 3 different sake shots to taste #tapas + Sashimi: $19.6 #tapas #bar #pub #montreal #canada #sashimi #sake #foodporn #foodie #foodshare #カナダ #居酒屋 A photo posted by KINKA IZAKAYA MTL (@kinkaizakayamtl) on Sep 15, 2015 at 2:31pm PDT To top it all off? Kinka has a sunny outdoor terrasse, situated right on Saint-Catherine Street (near Concordia University), for maximum summer vibes. They're also opening a new location in Tokyo, Japan, this August. But if you're down to transport yourself to Japan, without having to actually leave the city? Then you know exactly where to go. So if Kinka Izakaya sounds like your brand-new favourite summer spot, then check out their website, Facebook Page and Instagram for more information.
