10 Essential Things You Need To Know About Bal En Blanc At The Bell Centre
All your questions answered.
In case you haven’t heard, Bal en Blanc 2015 has found a new home that promises to make Canada’s largest indoor EDM event that much better. A fan favourite for over 20 years, Bal en Blanc is back this Easter weekend for its 21st edition and pre-sale starts Saturday January 16 at noon at balenblanc.com. So if you are looking to party with thousands of Montrealers (but don’t feel like freezing your butt off) Bal en Blanc 2015 is just the ticket.
When we found out that this year’s event was not being held at the Palais des Congrès as per usual, we had our reservations, as did many of our readers. So we sat down with General Manager of Productions Playground, Michael Armstrong, to get the inside scoop on what the new venue means for Bal en Blanc.
What changes can we expect this year at the new venue?
Everything will be different. The Bell Centre offers great possibilities with its high ceiling and its first-rate technical installations. Expect a surprising, never-before-seen set-up.
How many stages will there be?
There will be one big stage at the Bell Centre. We’re working on having a second one nearby at Gare Windsor, but it still needs to be confirmed.
What is the capacity at the Bell Centre?
While not getting into too much detail about capacity for each and every area, the configuration at the Bell Centre will accommodate up to 14,000 people. The set-up will be different from anything that has been done before.
What will the setup look like and what kind of tickets are up for grabs?
There will be one giant dancefloor at ice level and the bleachers section. Dancefloor tickets will give access to both ice level as well as the bleachers, and while people with bleachers tickets won't have access to the dancefloor, they will be free to roam the entire bleachers section as well as the adjacent hallways.
What does a VIP ticket get you?
In addition to giving priority admission, VIP ticket-holders get exclusive access to a free VIP coat-check and to the VIP section including fruit and other snacks. VIP tickets must be combined with a "dancefloor" ticket to Bal en Blanc.
How many pre-sale tickets will be available tomorrow?
The first 500 “dancefloor” tickets will be offered at the reduced price of $99* exclusively on balenblanc.com.
The next 1,000 “dancefloor” tickets will go for $125* purchased either online or at a number of specialized sales points (see the complete list on the Bal en Blanc Facebook page).
All remaining “dancefloor” tickets will go for the regular price of $149.*
“Bleachers” tickets will be offered at a single price of $59*.
What’s the DJ line-up this year?
As per every year, it will be announced gradually in the weeks to come.
Are there any new security measures at the Bell Centre?
There are no new security measure at the Bell Centre. They will be the same as they were in the preceding years, with individual searches at the entrance by a friendly security and hosting staff. It's important to us that participants feel entirely safe at our events.
What items are allowed at the event?
As explained above, we will do everything possible to ensure the safety and security of every participant, as we’ve successfully done every year. For this reason, glow sticks and cameras (except cellphones) will not be permitted but don't worry, it will be possible to buy glow sticks once inside the venue.
Will smoking be permitted?
There will be a dedicated smoking section inside the premises, as there is no readmission possible at Bal en Blanc.
We know we're getting our most virginal outfits ready for Montreal's biggest EDM event, so make sure to head over to the Bal en Blanc website to get your hands on the pre-sale tickets dropping tomorrow, Saturday Jan. 17 @ Noon, and check out and the Facebook page for more details.
