Mount Royal always has, and always will be, a hub for community activity in Montreal. During the summer you get the runners and nature enthusiasts, but winter is when flocks of Montrealers climb the perilous mountain for some snowy fun. Looking back fifty years, people still had tons of winter fun (if not more) on Mount Royal, and these pics prove it.

Taken from the Archives de Montreal, these photos were shot at Mount Royal from the 1950s to 1980s. Things have changed since way back when (like a full-on automated ski-lift) but one thing remains true: Mount Royal is the place to be when its winter.
