Disregard the idea that a vehicle will only catch fire in the middle of summer or because of a collision. This winter in Montreal is proof that vehicle fires should be a real winter worry. So far this month, at least four cars in Montreal have caught fire because of what appear to be common wintertime hazards.\nToday, yet another video of a vehicle fire is circulating the internet, though it's unclear if the flames are the result of the same winter dangers. Videos and details from a witness below.\nIn these videos, submitted to us by MTL Blog reader @imposss on Instagram, you can see the flames seem to originate near the rear of the bus.\nHowever, in the second video below, the fire clearly spread very rapidly, engulfing the bus in flames in no time.\nView this post on Instagram Bus on fire spotted next to Carrefour Laval last night. 🔥 Video submitted to MTL Blog by @imposss A post shared by MTLBlog (@mtlblog) on Feb 19, 2019 at 6:46am PST\nWhen submitting the video, the witness gave us the following details.\nThe fire occurred in Laval last night, outside the Carrefour Laval parking lot by the Autoroute 440 and Autoroute 15.\nIt appears to be an STL bus, line #440.\nIt was around 7 PM when the bus was spotted on fire and apparently emergency responders were on the scene within 5 minutes.\nVia imposss on Instagram\nThe witness also says that within two to three minutes the whole bus was on fire as you can see in the video below.\nHe said the smell was horrible and I can only imagine how bad it must have been.\nAs I explained the article above, vehicles are made up of so much plastic, once a fire starts it becomes very difficult to get it under control.\nNow think about the seats and seat covers on a bus and you can appreciate how quickly a public bus would catch fire to such a degree.\n@mtlblog_newsembedded via\nWe got in touch with the STL, who told us that, thankfully, no one was injured and that the bus driver followed strict procedure as soon as he saw smoke.\nStay tuned for updates.
