How Snow Makes Montrealers Forget About All Their Problems... For A Minute
A distraction we all need when living in this city.
Like most (all?) people in Montreal, I woke up this morning, looked out my window, and saw one thing: lots and lots of snow.
And, I don't know why, but I was absolutely blown away by how beautiful it was. Legit, it looks like we're living in a snow globe, or some kind of winter wonderland.
This isn't the first snow of the year in Montreal - that happened in November - but it's every bit as magical, if not more.
Which I get is kind of a weird thing to say. Usually, I'm all like, "snow!? More like s'no, am I right?" but recently I've been really feeling how magical Montreal looks under that thick white blanket of snow.
I'm not the only one who thinks this way, either.
Usually, pretty much everyone I know complains about the snow. But this year, everyone's said the same thing: it's made the city look incredibly beautiful. Like something out of a movie, almost.
I couldn't quite put my finger on why this shift happened, but then I realized that Montreal's been going through.
Other than the usual, "small" issues (construction), we've also added a less-than-festivetree to the mix, and a hilarious winter traffic pile-up... both of which have made their way around the globe.
So we kind of needed a gorgeous winter snowstorm, I feel, to help us forget about everything, and to help remind us that Montreal is actually one seriously beautiful, awesome city.
... At least for a little while.
