Montreal is going to get very vegan this weekend, with the start of thegoing down at UQAM this Friday and Saturday. Coming at #VeganLife from every angle, the festival will be educational, informative, and above all, filled with vegan eats.
An opening conference will start the festival off on Friday, but Saturday is when the real vegan-party gets started. Exhibits, kiosks, culinary demos, and conferences will be held all day from 10am to 6pm, and access to all is entirely free. Nothing beats free vegan, though maybe it's just "freegan"? Okay, maybe not.
Tons of local vegan eateries and businesses will be at the festival, including Lola Rosa, Aux Vivres, and Montreal's. With big names like those attached to the festival, along with many more, rest assured you'll be well fed despite the lack of meat or animal by-products.
After the mass amount of cooking demos and exhibitions (including: molecular cooking, vegan sports health, discovering tempeh, making vegan caviar, and MANY more) there will be two parties where you can meet your vegan brethren. At UQQAM's Salle Polyvalente, a lounge-style meet and greet will be held from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, with drinks and snacks provided. Then things kick into high gear at UQAM's salle L'Agora with the official Vegan After Party starting at 10pm. Time to party like a vegan.
Being vegan is incredibly difficult to understand for some of us, as its hard to grasp why anyone would limit their food choices, and give up cheese. We all have one or two vegan friends who, and the Montreal Vegan Festival is probably the best way to get on their level. You'll be able to understand the lifestyle, learn about the benefits of eating vegan, and actually get to eat some vegan cuisine. Who knows, maybe you'll make the switch.
Montreal's first Vegan Festival begins this Friday, September 26th with the main festivities occurring on Saturday, the 27th. Find out the schedule of events, full list of collaborators, and map of locations at the Montreal Vegan Festival official website here.
