Parc Jean-Drapeau is about to become an even more prime spot to spend your summer weekend in Montreal. Not only do we have Piknic on Sundays, and a slew of festivals to enjoy, starting this Saturday, June 14th, the Beach at Parc Jean-Drapeau will be open for you to swim, chill, and tan.

You can actually enjoy Parc Jean-Drapeau's beach any day of the week, and not just weekends, until August 17th, as it will be open every day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Weekend hours will start August 22nd (Fri-Sunday, noon to 7pm) and the beach will be closed as of September 1st. Plan accordingly, and get as much beach-time as you can.

Only a metro or bike ride away from downtown, Parc Jean-Drapeau's beach is the urban oasis we've been waiting for. All your standard beach essentials will be on-site (sand for laying/tanning, clear water for swimming, beach volleyball for Top Gun-esque montages) as will more exciting stuff like boat/kayak/canoe rentals, teletraction wakeboarding, and wifi access for all the tech junkies.

The only drawback to this magical beach setup is that access to the Beach at Parc-Jean Drapeau isn't free. Cover charge is $9 for adults and $4.50 for kids (3-13). After 4pm a reduced fee comes into play, with admission going down to a much more reasonable $5 for adults and $3 for kids.

Looking at the pics, and pondering the magical idea of going from the city to a giant beach in the span of half an hour, has us incredibly pumped. Here's to beers on the beach.

Are you excited for the Beach at Parc Jean-Drapeau?
