Science Says Drinking 7 Times A Week Is Actually Good For You
New study shows the health benefits of daily drinking.
A study published in the European Heart Journal took a large group of 14 629 men and women, from non-drinkers to moderate to heavy drinkers, and studied the heart rates of each over the course of 25 years, with a specific focus on the risk of heart failure.
You may think that alcohol abstainers were the healthiest of the bunch, but in actuality, those who helped themselves to 7 drinks a week had the lowest risk of heart failure. Men in the "7 drinks a week" group were 20% less likely to have heart troubles, and women were 18% less likely.
Even more surprising is the fact that heavy drinkers, so those who had more than 14 drinks per week (I'm sure you can relate), were not at a much higher risk of heart failure than the folks who drank nothing at all. Abstaining from alcohol has never looked less appealing.
Really driving the point home is Professor Scott Solomon, a lead scientists on the study, who went on the record to say “no level of alcohol intake was associated with a higher risk of heart failure." That's all we really needed to hear before the weekend started, so go hard for your heart.
