This Hidden Montreal Spot Actually Serves The Most Deliciously Authentic Japanese Food
We've all been sleeping on this one.
You wouldn't intuitively imagine that a food court restaurant would offer some of the best meals in the city. But, think again.
Many entrepreneurs and first-time restaurant owners don't necessarily have the resources to run a huge operation when starting out.
For example, think of the amazing and Montreal-famous Thai spot - Bangkok, located in low-key downtown food court The Faubourg. With a loyal clientele, this place has seen lineups for years.
One of Montreal's first trendy tacos spots Grumman'78 similarly started off in the Faubourg, and now they run and operate a massive and beautiful restaurant space in the very hot neighborhood of St-Henri.
If you STILL didn't believe me, Satay Brothers also started out with just a simple but efficient stall/kiosk at the Atwater Market, and now run a busy and bustling restaurant on Notre Dame street.
All that to say, don't knock a food court meal till you try it!
Word on the street is a little spot tucked away in "mall" at 1000 Sherbrooke Street West - right near Mcgill campus - you will find a low-key resto ready to serve up the most comforting Japanese "soul food" dishes and curries.
With a very cute smiley and bubbly red cartoon logo holding up a pair of chopsticks like a trophy, I already have confidence this place is going to be good.
Take one look on IG and you will see that this place has a loyal yet very small following. And it's no wonder, the food actually looks incredible and just the kind of thing you want to eat to give you energy all day.
When it comes to food court secret gems, you know the food has to be good. Because the sole focus is on one thing, the food. No glitz and glamour, just always making sure the customer walks away completely satisfied - hopefully blown away - with what they ate.
