Mystical glowing caves are only a plane ride away, and not in some fairy-tale dimension. To see this cave of wonders first hand, all you need to do is travel to New Zealand's Waitomo Glow Worm Grotto, where thousands of glow worms have lived for over 100 years. Go figure that the real-life Shire/Middle Earth would be the place to see some magic.

Arachnocampa luminosa, or the glow worm, is a species unique to New Zealand, and the reason for the mystical light shone in the Waitomo Caves. Discovered in 1889, the caves have been a major tourist attraction ever since, as people from around the world flock to see some real-life magic.

You can, of course, take a tour of the Glow Worm Grotto yourself (more info here) but since some of lack the time and money to hop on a plane to New Zealand, enjoy a visual tour with the photos below.
