Your cellphone reception will soon be maxed out in Montreal metro system, allowing you to call, text, tweet, snap, and 'gram in moving STM metro cars.

Wireless internet exists in some stations, but Places-des-Art and St. Laurent stations are the first to be outfitted with a complete cellular network.

14 stations will be upgraded with full cellphone service in 2014. Montrealers will need to wait an estimated 5-7 years until all 68 metro stations are outfitted with cell service.

Telus, Bell, Rogers, TELUS and Videotron will be working with the STM to install the metro-cellphone network, covering all costs for installation.

A firm completion date hasn't been given, but STM spokesperson Amélie Regis told JdM Montrealers will have access to full cell service (at least in two metro stations) "as soon as the network tests are successful."

Are you excited for cell phone service in the metro?
