Canada Begins Rolling Out Cancer Warnings On Alcohol
Labels spell out Canadian low-risk drinking guidelines.
Yukon has become the first Canadian jurisdiction to add cancer warning labels on bottles of alcohol.
The yellow and red labels began appearing this week on bottles and cans sold at the Whitehorse liquor store. They spell out Canadian drinking guidelines.
The latest move is consistent with past policy for the territory. Since 1991, labels have been in place on liquor products sold in Yukon, warning of the risks of alcohol on pregnancy.
According to Statistics Canada, Yukon has the highest alcohol sales per capita.
