Last year, we wrote an article about how China was toying around with the idea of building an underwater railway that would connect Asia to Canada.\nAs far fetched as it may seem, this is actually possible. It has recently been done on a smaller scale with the Eurasia tunnel that opened to traffic on December 22nd. This underwater tunnel is a highway that connects Europe and Asia.\nREAD ALSO: The STM Fvcked Up, Montreal’s AZUR Trains Don’t Actually Fit The Tunnels\nNow that this has been achieved, Russia has been thinking about an even more ambitious plan to build their own undersea tunnel to connect Asia and the United States.\nThe project involves connecting the Trans-Siberian Railway with railways in Europe and Asia using an undersea tunnel that would pass through the Bering Strait. Imagine being able to road trip from Montreal to London.\nBut China isn't going to sit back and let the Russians get all glory. According to The Huffington Post, they have their own insane underwater tunnel initiative in the works.\nThey want a high-speed railway route from Beijing to the United States that would pass through Russia, under the Bering Strait and all the way to Canada and the United Sates.\nMy only issue is that I’m not sure which I prefer, flying 30,000 feet in the air, or being trapped in underwater tunnel.\nWhat about you? Would you travel underwater to avoid the airports?
