If you’re startled into panic-mode by screaming sirens tomorrow afternoon, don’t fret, it’s just a drill.

The City of Montreal will be testing out environmental disaster sirens Tuesday afternoon. The annual warning sirens test will take place at 2pm.

All sirens are set up close to factories that regularly use hazardous materials. 12 Montreal boroughs will be able to hear the sirens blaring when testing begins tomorrow.

The sirens are meant to ring in the event of a toxic spill or the like. If ever heard outside of a test procedure, the sirens are meant to alert citizens to take shelter.

If you’re new to a borough and unsure whether or not this test affects you, the City of Montreal has a useful info page on the siren-test and where factories are located.
