Disney unveiled the first look at their newest live-action cartoon remake yesterday.\nWinnie the Pooh is the next in a long line of reimagined Disney cartoons and the first look has sent fans of the famous honey hunting bear into a tailspin.\nChristopher Robin is the new adaptation, and an entirely original story centred around Pooh bear, his Hundred Acre Woods friends and a much older Christopher Robin, played by Ewan McGregor.\nREAD ALSO: It's Official, Netflix Set To "ReBoot" Your Childhood This Spring\nThe consensus is mixed, some love it, lots hate it, some don't like his voice and others just want to make Star Wars jokes and TED or Paddington comparisons. Some also liken the new Disney flick to that of a horror movie.\npic.twitter.com/jWRSjaGk8c\n— karen h. (@mmhmmawkward) March 6, 2018\nSo, about the accent. Let's remember this is, after all, a Disney movie! Of course, the voice won't change, and Pooh is voiced by the voice actor who's played him since the late 80s, Jim Cummings.\nIt's easy to get critical of the CGI rendering of the classic cartoon bear, because its very easy to forget that Winnie the Pooh, and all his animal friends, were always stuffed animals!\nDon't remember? Here's a visual refresh.\nA friendly reminder that Pooh has always been a stuffed bear. #WinnieThePooh pic.twitter.com/RyAnWM1KKV\n— Disney Film Facts (@disneyfilmfacts) March 6, 2018\nAs a born-and-raised Winnipeg boy, Winnie the Pooh will always have a special place in my heart. In case you did not know, he is the (unofficial) mascot of Winnipeg, and was even named after my prairie hometown.\nPersonally, I am here for this!\nI say Disney got this one right, and am very curious to see how the rest of the Hundred Acre Woods gang will look in this film. Here's the teaser trailer.\nChristopher Robin hits theatre this August.
