Back in the day Montreal had some pretty cool features. There was a giant funicular elevator that would let you rise all the way to the top of Mount Royal, and we actually used to have a ski hill.

Starting last year, an organization called La Pente a Neige has been hard at work to bring skiing back to Montreal.

Of course the hill won't be a world class resort. It's a local place for people to get initiated to the sport and it's a way to make skiing affordable and accessible to as many people as possible.

Contruction started this summer at Parc Ignace-Bourget and the hill is nearly complete!

The opening date is scheduled for December 2017, but no word yet on whether the hill will be open on time for the new year.
