Many of you are probably way too young to remember it even existed, while the rest of you probably can't imagine your childhood without it. Before La Ronde became the official Montreal amusement park, there was Belmont Park. The park operated in Montreal from 1923 to 1983 and brought happiness to countless Montrealers. It featured a large wooden roller-coaster called The Cyclone, a carousel, a Ferris wheel, a pool, a skating rink and even a “kiddieland.” Sadly, the park was shut down in 1983 after being raided by the police. Unfortunately the budget won't allow for the city to revive the old roller coasters, instead the park will be animated with a carousel, activities, games, day camps, history lessons about the park.
