Killer Flu Season To Hit Canada Hard This Winter

This year, the onslaught of a particularly deadly strain of the flu virus may lead to a harsher flu season than usual.
The strain, H3N2, showed a high level of resistance to vaccines in Australia, and is expected to continue to do so in Canada.

So far, this year, the vaccine has only helped prevent the flu in 10% of people inoculated. Usually, the vaccine helps protect 40-50%.
The virus has already started attacking Canadians.
This year, already the virus has killed five people in the Calgary area. There have also been outbreaks in Southern Ontario.
As a result, hospitals are getting ready for a major increase in flu cases during the holiday season.
