A pilot named Duane Youd flew a small plane into his home in Utah where his wife and a child were sleeping just hours after he was arrested for assaulting his wife.

The plane was a twin twin-engine Cessna 525 which allegedly belonged to the pilot's employer.

The man died after the crash. However, his wife and the child thankfully survived despite the entire place going up in flames.

It looks like this was an incident fueled by anger from a fight that the pilot and his wife had earlier that day at American Fork Canyon where they reportedly went to talk over the relationship issues they were having. A witness phoned the police claiming that they saw Youd assaulting his wife.

Youd asked an officer to accompany him home to get some personal belongings of his.

However, within a few hours, Youd was taking off this plane from the Spanish Fork-Springville Airport close to his home.

It's still unclear how he was able to achieve this, but The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident to collect more information and insights on how this actually happened.

Thankfully, no one else in the neighborhood was hurt, but it was very close as the plane almost flew into nearby power lines.
