Montreal Is Getting A Free "Beach Village" Next Month
The unofficial summer kick-off!
Summertime in Montreal means a lot of things for us locals, and for the tourists coming through town, too!
It means a festival will happen for just about anything you can think of. It means you have a hundred and one terrasses to choose from any given day of the week.
It also means that the free outdoor spaces will open again, and be the epicenter of your summer nights.
Montreal's summer season sees a bunch of Jardin set-ups open up around town, all complete with food trucks, pop-up vendors and markets, outdoor activities and events with live music, DJs, dance classes and more.
Some of them are better than others.
One of my personal favourite summer villages is Village au Pied-du-Courant, next to the Jacques-Cartier bridge.
Why? The answer is simple - Village au Pied-du-Courant brings the beach to the city.
In Montreal, when it comes to enjoyable bodies of water or beach atmospheres, we're kind of limited. I have always remained the city's South-West to stay close to the river and Lachine Canal - this environment is very important to my happiness and a general state of "zen."
Village au Pied-du-Courant is a sort of in-between. This man-made beach village offers up everything you could hope for at the beach - minus the swimming. One day spent there, however, you'll soon forget about the water and be sucked into this stellar beach boardwalk village vibe.
It is, hands down, the best place to watch our
This year, for their 5th edition of the beach party destination, Village au Pied-du-Courant is promising their best year yet - with a whole new expanded beach area to explore along the St. Lawrence River.
Additionally, the builders are all hard at work on the site building up brand new art installations for their grand opening in a months time.
Mark your calendars, and get yourself "beach vibe" ready.
Village au Pied-du-Courant will see their 2018 Grand Opening on June 1st. There will be music, a ton of people celebrating the launch of summer and dogs (leashed) are allowed on the premises with their owners.
Also, it is entirely free!
