With the sun shining and the long May weekend approaching, now is a better time than ever to get those bikes ready!\nSo as a thriving biking city, I have the pleasure of announcing that you can now take advantage of 21 kilometers of cycling trails on Parc Jean Drapeau's two islands.\nParc Jean Drapeau\nJust minutes from the city you can feel like you're in the true countryside, as the park boasts stunning scenery and an incredible playground for cyclists.\nHome to a multitude of recreational activities, the park itself spans across two islands in the middle of the St. Lawerence River and is green haven for sports enthusiasts of all kinds. You can even take advantage of one of the parks 3 heated outdoor pools, beach or even enjoy a well deserved picnic as you cycle yourself through the 21km of green oasis.\nThose who love getting active but haven't yet been able to invest in their own bike can take full advantage of the écorécréo rental center and hire a bike for the day. They even offer what is referred to as a 'Fat Bike' for those who wish to ride the snow trail in the winter months.\nA photo posted by Karla Bernardes (@karlabernardes) on Aug 12, 2015 at 5:19am PDT\nThe Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve that famously hosts the Grand Prix du Canada stretches a full 4.361 km and plays a crucial and fun section in this 21km stretch.\nNow you are probably wondering what is the easiest way of getting to the island with your bike, well why not start your biking journey from the comfort of your home in Montreal and avoid unnecessary parking or public transport costs. The park has a great bike link to the island open each year from April to December from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m weather permitting.\nHowever please be aware that links are temporarily closed for crossing ships, so I would highly recommend planning your journey ahead, which can thankfully be done through the St. Lawerence Seaway System Website.\nSo whatever your passion, whether it is a leisurely ride, training for the next biking event, or simply enjoying the full gear range of your mountain bike, Jean Parc Drapeau's maze of interlinking cycle paths are an absolute must.\nAnd why stop there?
