Warm weather is upon us, and if you're from Montreal, you know what that means: festival time! There's pretty much a festival for any occassion you can think of, so naturally seeing as it's sugar shack time that means we need to have a sugar festival.

We've had sugar shacks or "cabane a sucres" around for a really long time, but entire festivals devoted entirely to the creation of delicious, sugary foods, hmm not yet.

Well, all that is about to change because Montreal is getting it's first ever sugar festival and it's going to be epic!

They're calling it "Le Temps des Sucres" and it's going to be held at the Olympic Stadium's Esplanade Financière Sun Life Source located just outside the stadium. Apparently, there are going to be so many food stops that the site is going to look like a village of restaurants!

Renowned Québec chefs Martin Juneau, Marie-Fleur St-Pierre, Alexandre Gosselin, and Rémy Couture will be presenting the public with some unique, signature dishes that all have one key, main ingredient. Can you guess what it is? Maple syrup! I can already tell that this is going to be a good time.

There are three different kinds of tickets that you can get:

Meal card: Costs $33 and comes with 3 plates and one dessert.

Meal + beer card: Costs $45 and comes with 3 plates, one dessert and a beer with each meal.

Meal + wine card: Costs $65 and comes with 3 plates, one dessert and wine with each meal.

Le Temps des Sucres will be featuring four restaurants: Pastaga,Tapeo, Chez Victoire and Crémy. Their menu is absolutely to die for. Check it out, along with tons of other useful information on their website. They've even got vegetarian options!

The festival will be happening from mid April to the end of the month, so you'll have plenty of time to get in on the sugary fun. You'll be able to circulate around the village with your sugary snacks and enjoy Montreal's Spring nightlife.

They're even going to have shows!

Here is the schedule:

April 12-15

  • Thursday: 5 p.m. to midnight
  • Friday: 5 p.m. to midnight
  • Saturday:11 a.m. to midnight
  • Sunday: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

April 19-22

  • Thursday: 5 p.m. to midnight
  • Friday: 5 p.m. to midnight
  • Saturday:11 a.m. to midnight
  • Sunday: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

I can already tell that this event isn't going to be a one-time thing. So, if I were you I'd get my tickets in the presale to make sure I attend this soon-to-be Montreal classic.
