There are very few people our city adores as much as the legend herself, Céline Dion. The icon gave a much-anticipated series of concerts in Montreal this week and her local fans were clearly thrilled to have her back. Dion mesmerized crowds with her breathtaking performance and wit. It was a triumphant return after a difficult few months for the Québécoise singer — her first performance in the province since the death of her mother, Thérèse, in January.

On Thursday, the morning after her Montreal concert, Céline shared a heartwarming message along with a picture of the late Dion matriarch, known in Quebec as "Maman Dion."

"On behalf of my entire family, I would like to thank all of you for your expressions of sympathy, which have touched us very deeply," she captioned a black-and-white image of her mother.

"If you wish, you can write a note or make a donation on the Fondation Maman Dion websiteHelping children in need will help us to heal. – Celine xx…"

Thérèse passed away on January 17, 2020. Céline was open about their close relationship.

"Back in my hometown, see you tonight Montréal," the superstar wrote on Instagram before her February 20 show.

She went on to give a show-stopping performance that included a surprise appearance by local artist Bleu Jeans Bleu.

Together, they sang his hit "Coton ouaté."

In one of the more adorable moments of the evening, she pulled a six-year-old child named Félix on stage and sat next to him.

This series of shows in Montreal were postponed from last fall when the singer had to tragically cancel her first hometown appearance on the Courage World Tour due to illness.

In October, she shared news of the postponement in an emotional video.

So needless to say, fans were happy to have her back, taking to social media to share their excitement and adoration for Queen Céline.

One of her fans even says that she can now "die in peace" after the "#bestshow."

Céline's charm, charisma, sense of humour, and warm heart have made her a magnetic figure. But it's clear that her relationship with Montreal is something special.
