Federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh was in Montreal this past weekend for Montreal Pride.\nHe appears to have made some time to hit the streets and chat with regular Montrealers.\nDid you see him around the city?\nVisit MTLBlog for more headlines.\nAugust is nearing its end and considering its an election year, there's no question that every political leader is hot on the campaign trail.\nThis past weekend, us here in Montreal were lucky enough to welcome nearly every federal party leader as they walked in the Montreal Pride parade.\nYes, the PM, Justin Trudeau donned his pink shirt and walked through Montreal to celebrate Pride yet again, alongside our mayor Valerie Plante, our Premier François Legault, and federal party leaders Jagmeet Singh and Elizabeth May.\nScheer was missing, though probably not missed by many.\nSingh, on the other hand, has been showing his love for Montreal and Quebec at large, for some time now. He was spotted in the Province for la Fête Nationale last month and has decided to spread his charming smile around Montreal for a couple extra days this week after finishing up Pride yesterday.\nCheck out these photos below of Jagmeet Singh just totally loving his life around Montreal.\nAs I mentioned above, Singh was in town last month to celebrate Saint Jean Baptiste and was captured by Montreal photographer @benjoppke cycling around the city like a true Montrealais.\nView this post on Instagram Cycle Life 2/2 . . . . . . . . #montreal #so_montreal #mtlblog #narcitymontreal #mtlblogger #dailyhivemtl #mtlmoments #eventphotography #livemontreal #mtlprodigies #nightlife #sonya7iii #moodygrams #montreal #NDP #NPD #trudeau #canada #elections #portraitsociety #portrait #moodyports #loadedlenses #portraitstream #mtljtm #blvcktones #cycle #cyclelife A post shared by Ben J. He taught me a lot without even saying a word . Don’t get me wrong we had an awesome chat about the benefits of intermittent fasting, the power of good nutrition and the overall importance of being healthy. During this chat I maintained a safe distance 😂 (I have no idea why we were so far apart while we were speaking, I’m just going to say I was worried about his unstoppable double leg takedown lol) . But I learned a lot about humility before we chatted. Here’s arguably one of the greatest champions in the history of mma (multi division and multiple championship defences) and he shows up to his gym and rolls during the class like anyone else. He stayed for the whole class did drills and sparring. . A champion who honours the martial arts tradition with humility and respect . Much respect and thank you for the time . Special shout out to the incredible coach Firaz whom I also met. As a visionary coach and trainer I was almost more star struck meeting him . Today was an inspiration and a massive honour A post shared by Jagmeet Singh (@jagmeetsingh) on Aug 17, 2019 at 5:00pm PDT\nView this post on Instagram Jagmeet Singh dans le Sud-Ouest avant le défilé de Fierté 2019 demain après-midi #polcan #nouveaupartidemocratique #jagmeetsingh #montréal #montreal #québec #quebec #canada A post shared by André Querry (@andrequerry) on Aug 17, 2019 at 6:39pm PDT\nHe was also spotted near Lionel-Groulx station giving his turban a fresh wrap.\nHe also greeted Montrealers on Instagram with a "Bonjour" in a video that appears to have been taken in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.\nJagmeet Singh in Montreal\nThere's no question at this point that Singh loves our city and never hesitates to show that love, whether he's riding his bike around the Plateau or marching alongside Montreal's queer community during Pride.\nBonne fierté, Montréal!! #FierteMTL 🏳️🌈 pic.twitter.com/QJdkyHJtjr— Jagmeet Singh (@theJagmeetSingh) August 18, 2019\nIt sure is nice to know we have political leaders that are so open, accepting and supportive of all Canadians.\nIt is strange to think, though, about the potential hardships Singh would face in Quebec if he were elected as Prime Minister.\nWhile an elected official is not technically a civil servant, with the current climate surrounding the religious symbols ban it wouldn't come as much of a surprise if there were people who felt negatively about his headwear.\nWhich is terribly unfortunate, considering he rocks it so well.
