Legault Coughed Into His Hand On Live Video & Immediately Knew He Messed Up (Video)
At his daily press briefing on Wednesday, Premiercoughed into his hand and immediately knew he messed up. Legault caught himself for not coughing into his arm — something that the government has recommended everyone does since the pandemic first began. Ironically enough, before coughing, Legault once again reiterated the need to follow the rules, keep distances, and stay home.
The affable Legault apologized and smiled at himself for such a blatant violation of his own government's rules. It's good to see that even during a time of crisis, our leaders can have a sense of humour.
The action, however, was a good reminder for everyone to follow the government's regulations.
That small gesture is proof positive that even the most careful of us can make a mistake.
As of Wednesday, Quebec eclipsed 10,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and counted 25 more deaths. Though the numbers grow every day, public health officials are optimistic that we will soon see the peak of the virus in Quebec.
The cough occurred around the 0:50 minute mark in the video above.
The Government of Quebec's website clearly states that residents should "cough or sneeze into the bend of your elbow or in your upper sleeve" if tissue paper is not available.
"This reduces the risk of contamination because these body parts do not come into contact with people or objects."
In fact, this (and much more) is all outlined in the government'sand illustrated with delightful stock photos.
The CDC recommends a similar "cough etiquette."
